Goals of CGS

  1. Make softball fun for ALL players!
  2. Be competitive - Learn how to win, and learn how to lose.
  3. Effort - We will encourage and expect all girls to give 100%
  4. Learning - We want every player to learn the fundamentals of softball, and to increase their knowledge as they grow in the program.
  5. Sportsmanship - Please remember that these are kids playing a game. Kids learn from watching us; and as a program, we take that responsibility very seriously. Please do your part to make this a positive experience for everyone involved, and if you have any issues, don't hesitate to contact your coach, level director, or me.
  6. Community - Coaches and organizers are volunteers. We try really hard (and I think we do a good job!) but we have lives outside of softball and sometimes make mistakes or forget something (mostly me!) We do our best to make CGS a safe, fun, fair environment. We are a community and we are always happy to have extra hands helping - please talk to a coach, board member, or me if you have something to contribute!

Equipment Needed

Players only need a glove to play. We have bats and helmets, though players can always bring their own. All players will receive a jersey and socks. Clinic/8u and 10u will also receive shorts and visors. 12u and 17u players should have black softball pants for sliding. Cleats are recommended, but not necessary - rubber cleats ONLY. Always bring water, particularly as the days get warmer.

Rules

Each age level has different, modified rules that we have used successfully throughout the years in order to make the game flow better, and allow the girls to grow as players. You can find them here.

Rain Outs/ Schedule Changes / Field Changes

We always want to play if the fields are safe. We all have jobs and generally can't get to the fields until 3:30/4pm, and will make the call no later than 4:30pm if possible during the week and 7:30/8am Saturday mornings. Please be patient. Notifications will go out via email, be posted on FaceBook, and will be posted on the website (generally in that order.)
