8u/ Clinic Rules

#1 rule is to keep the game moving and to keep it fun and safe!

• Coach pitch. Each coach pitches to their own team.

• No strikeouts or walks – each batter gets 3 strikes.  After 3 strikes, the batter will hit off the tee to put the ball in play.
• All infield positions are played including pitcher (stands next to, or slightly behind coach pitcher), but excluding catcher (a coach will play this position).  Any extra players will be spread out in the outfield, which at this level, is the dirt just inside the grass.  At this level, the players should have the opportunity to play all positions.
• All players must bat in established batting order. If players leave the game early, just skip that spot in the lineup. Players arriving late will be added to the bottom of the lineup.
• An inning ends after all batters in the lineup have batted for that inning. The final batter will run through all bases until tagged out or crosses home plate.
• Even though we don’t use outs to determine the end of the inning, if a player is out based on a play made, she should be called out and should leave the base.
• Coaches are allowed on the field when their team is in the field.  Batting team’s coach will pitch to their team.  Base coaches should be in the traditional spots when their team is batting.

• Teams need 5 players to start, continue, finish the game. Share players if necessary. If you see an issue with player’s availability, please let the level director know as early as possible.
• Goal is to complete 3-4 innings. No complete inning starts later than the 70 minute mark. 75 minutes is the maximum normally for this age group.
• No score kept.
• There are no playoffs.
